Jinsy Andrews, MD, MSc

Jinsy A. Andrews, MD, MSc is an Assistant Professor of Neurology, in the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine and serves as the Director of Neuromuscular Clinical Trials. Dr. Andrews received her BS at Union College, her MSc in Biostatistics (Patient-Oriented Research) from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, and her MD from Albany Medical College. Dr. Andrews completed her residency in Neurology at the University of Connecticut where she served as Chief Neurology Resident in her final year. Dr. Andrews completed fellowship training in Neuromuscular Medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Hiroshi Mitsumoto and completed a second fellowship in  Clinical Neurophysiology at Columbia University. After completion of her training, Dr. Andrews joined the faculty and was named the David A. Gardner Research Fellow in Neuromuscular Disease while she continued to participate in clinical research and care for patients with ALS at the Eleanor and Lou Gehrig ALS Center.  Dr. Andrews was also awarded the Diamond Award for ALS clinical care and research in 2009 by Wings Over Walls Street and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Subsequently, Dr. Andrews  moved to the University of Connecticut where she built a clinical trials unit for neurological diseases and served as its Director at Hospital for Special Care. More recently, Dr. Andrews was the Head of Neuromuscular Therapeutics at Cytokinetics, where she focused on developing novel, small molecule skeletal muscle activators as a potential therapy for neuromuscular diseases. Dr. Andrews is board certified in Neurology, Neuromuscular Disease, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. In addition to caring for patients with neuromuscular disease, Dr. Andrews will be overseeing clinical trials for the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine.
