The NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Medical Center Stroke Center has been awarded the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG) Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award & Target Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll. A GWTG Achievement Award demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to quality and ability to work as a team that is dedicated to providing patients with care that is appropriate and based on the latest clinical guidelines with the goal of improving quality patient care and patient outcomes. Specifically, the hospital has achieved Gold Plus by sustaining 85% or higher adherence to specific evidence based guidelines, and by achieving required metrics for optional quality measures over a 12-month consecutive time period as measured in the GWTG program. The Target Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll Award recognizes the hospitals for achieving an average time to thrombolytic therapy within 60 minutes in 75 percent or more of acute ischemic stroke patients treated with IV tPA AND door-to-needle time within 45 minutes in 50 percent of acute ischemic stroke patients treated with IV tPA.
This award represents the highest category of stroke center awards given by the AHA. It is truly a great achievement and the result of tremendous work and dedication by a terrific multidisciplinary team.
